When I google for the phrase it brings up this post and references to it, almost entirely. Which is nice in a way, but also kind of justifies my rather heavy-handed satire.

I… don’t think you’ve entirely picked up on the tone of my post.

With comedy however “what is funny?” is a very big question. Are there fewer female comics because they have to do the rounds in various bars just feet away from leering crowds making it even more intimidating for women than men? Possibly- probably. Are there very successful funny women that get great plaudits – absolutely but to dismiss the hours of laughter produced by male comics as substandard is a little harsh. Let’s take something very surreal, The Goodies famously killed a man through laughter as he watched their sketch on Yorkshire martial arts- smart or dumb? It’s all down to the viewers interpretation. There are undeniably smart male comics as well as the Bernard Mannings of this world, however if I start naming names then the whole thing becomes personal opinion again so is Sandi Toksvig smarter or funnier than Armando Ianucci- who can really tell?

Personally- penis or vagina, smart or dumb I don’t care as long as it makes me laugh.
